Nashville, TENN (July 29, 2013) – Toolpusher Records’ Jason Sturgeon is proud to release his new single, “Angel Eyes,” the second single from his sophomore album, “Cornfields & Coal” set to be released on September 10, 2013.
This heartfelt and sincere ballad has always struck a chord with Sturgeon who found himself writing with Fred Koller, co-writer of the 1989 Jeff Healey classic hit which is at country radio now.
“Jason captures the spirit of the song with a fresh interpretation of Angel Eyes. I’m proud to hear his new voice on my words and melodies and he has my full support on this great performance,” attested Fred Koller.
“Angel Eyes” has always been one of my top five favorite songs,” said Sturgeon. “The song just stuck with me through the years…it’s always followed me.”
The video, which is the brainchild of Sturgeon himself, premiered today across CMT.com, CMT Mobile and CMT Pure. The clip follows the story of a couple who are just starting out and beginning to fall in love. To see a preview of the new video click here.
Leslie Fram, Senior Vice President of Music Strategy at CMT has this to say about Sturgeon’s spin on the song, ‘’Jason turns this classic song into a timeless treasure.”
“’Angel Eyes’ is kind of a sexy song,” said Sturgeon. “The guy is so lucky to have this woman and he’s telling her. I really wanted the video to be a visual depiction of a man’s devotion and gratitude for this woman. It’s kind of a mix between Chris Isaak’s ‘Wicked Game’ and ‘The Notebook.’”
Sturgeon has been tirelessly writing and recording since the release of his debut CD THAT’S ME. His sophomore effort is intertwined with more stories of the Indiana native’s life and reveals a softer side of the singer-songwriter.
“The last few years have really been a blur and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it,” admits Jason, laughing. We’ve been busy on the road and my songwriting always tends to mirror my life.”
