The world’s first drone circus is coming to Amsterdam.

An airshow consisting entirely of drones will make its world premiere at the Amsterdam Arena sometime in the near future. The official trailer, posted on YouTube last week, promises tons of adrenaline-infused fun with hundreds of drones.
The worlds-first show is called Air, is organized by Dutch event planning company Fjuze in collaboration with the Royal Netherlands Air Force. The show itself is also something of a mystery, although the Air website drops a few tantalising details.
“In this high-energy and explosive show, drones will take centre stage to bring a collaboration and fusion of music, video, projections and special effects,” it reads. “Air allows you to experience a variety of ballet and battles, races and lasers, circus, illusions and most of all magic from hundreds of drones.” Based on the trailer, the drones will be equipped with lasers and projectors– the latter of which may be used to create holograms. Spectators can probably also expect to see some pretty impressive drone acrobatics.
Disney is working on replacing its more traditional means of live entertainment such as giant puppets and fireworkswith drone displays, including a mesh of drones covered in lights simulating an aerial display.
The drones used for AIR 2015 will be flown inside the arena, skirting any outdoor flight restrictions.
